Debora Coombs Stained Glass
I design and paint stained glass windows for architecture, exhibitions and collectors. My work has been commissioned for schools, libraries, hospitals, religious buildings, private homes and a traditional English tea shop.
Religious projects include twenty stained glass windows for St Mary's Cathedral in Portland, Oregon, USA on the themes of American saints, cultural diversity and the sacraments; and two 25ft tall figurative windows for Marble Collegiate, Norman Vincent Peale's church in New York city.
During 2007 I designed 48 new stained glass windows; exhibited 7 new works in Kidspace @ MASS MoCA, (the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art); taught workshops; gave lectures; and helped 78 Vermont elementary school children to paint a stained glass window.
I'm currently working on a series called Menfolk for a solo exhibition of stained glass that will open in London, England in 2009, and a scheme of non-figurative windows based on the rosary for a newly renovated Catholic church in the USA.
